Last couple of weeks...

The last couple of weeks I haven't really done a lot. Partly because the weather has been a bit rubbish, partly because we've all been a bit below par, and partly due to other commitments.

I have been doing a bit of papercutting though. I am still enjoying it, and then I have learnt that the mother has taken up the craft following my enthusing at her! So pleased and she is loving it.

I do think it can be so very pretty.

Of course a couple of weeks ago was fathers day. I celebrated with the hubby, and wished the father a happy day as unfortunately he lives a few hundred miles away in Warrington.

The hubby is on the left whilst camping over a fire, the father is the on the right. I got the hubby this gorgeous personalised leather bracelet by Lisa Angel from notonthehighstreet.com.

Speaking of orders, my finger slipped a few times and I ordered a little bit of fabric to add to my stash...

What can I say? whoops... haha

When we went to the vintage fair at Cotehele House a couple of weekends ago I bought a 1940s vintage panel of fabric for £5. I have used some already ... in a future How I Did .... project.

Speaking of sewing, I have had/got a few projects in the pipeline...

I will cover them in future How I Did posts....

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned how much I suck at hand sewing. I even struggle with sewing on buttons and as a result I often have to re-stitch on buttons, which is annoying.

I chose some cute buttons though haha.

One of my fellow Instagram users pointed out how nice my nails look in this - of course they are Jamberrys. I'm still enjoying them, even if I'm doing utterly dreadfully in the sales stakes. I don't think I'm ruthless enough to do well in that kind of selling. I'm too nice basically haha. I still love the product though.

I had an amazing surprise during the week though. One of my favourite fabric designers are Lewis and Irene. They a British company and their fabric and designs are lovely. I was most surprised to win a jelly roll off them on Instagram. Made my week. So thankyou Lewis and Irene :)

Last Friday I attended a lino printing session with the creative space project, run by my friend artist Chloe Birnie. I have done several crafts sessions with them (including paper cutting run by another local artist and ceramicist Sue Newell) and community projects (currently knitting for a yarn bomb project which we're then going to turn into blankets for a local charity).

I enjoyed the lino printing session immensely. I think it's another craft I will take up in September. I was inspired by retro Dutch fabric designs, and the mostly symmetry. Also because these are quite similar to some paper cutting designs. This fabric was a bit of an inspiration too.

This was my design:

Which I then cut onto a piece of lino.

I then sponged some paint on and printed (you have to press very firmly) onto some paper and then some ironed fabric :)

It's now 'curing' for a week, to make it so I can wash it.

Here are some other pictures taken during the workshop with some of the college teens.

The girly is off for the foreseeable future too as she has chicken pox! She was a little wingy whilst I was volunteering for our schools PTA fundraising event on Tuesday night, last night she suddenly got spots, and has constantly got lots today.

I do hope she's better for sports day next Friday.

Here are some random pics from the last two weeks, just life in general as we haven't really done anything,

Hoping to have a bit more to cover this next week! Hope you all have a great week!
