The kids have broken up from school! gulp! Another year over, another year older. They grow up too fast. The eldest finished year 5, the girly finished year 3, no 3 finished reception and the youngest finished nursery. The youngest finishing nursery marks the end of an era, he is the last of our little 'clan' to go to the nursery. The last one to start school in September. Next month he is 4 years old. I am so sad that our baby days are over. I absolutely do not want anymore children. I am too old, hubby is definitely too old haha, we can't afford it, I couldn't do the baby stage again, and certainly couldn't do pregnancy again! But I do miss the baby stage where you are their only influence and they adore you, you are their whole world. I know that can't always be the way, but I do miss it, and always will I think.
All four on the last day of school this year, and all four almost 4 years ago. That has gone crazy fast!
This week, we have had a bit of a spate of injuries. Here is the eldest with his, a sprained thumb :)
We also had sports day, no 3, who is diagnosed with sensory processing disorder, autism (pathological demand avoidance) amongst other things, gets overwhelmed so he was allowed to come and sit with us. My friend made cup people with him.
One of the local youth centres had an open day, which the HMS Heroes was at. We went along to show our support. It was a great day. The hubby arranged to paint this building prior to its opening with a group of his submariner students. See below for pictures of the various ways the oldest two were able to hit each other..... just a normal day really haha....
On the Sunday we decided to take a little drive into Devon, as we had heard of an outdoor pool in Ashburton which had been taken over from the council by local people. The kids had a great time.
No 3 was not feeling his usual self on that trip, so we dosed him up with calpol. After that he was fine to spend a good few hours in the pool. I then noticed the tell-tale spots around his forehead. Yep, hello chicken pox case no2.
As I said before, it was the last day of reception class for no 3, and he has various diagnosis which are co-morbid with his rare chromosome disorder (47 xyy syndrome). The school have been amazing. A couple of years ago we weren't sure if he would be able to attend main stream school. He spent a year at an amazing special needs nursery in Cornwall and they brought him on so much, it was incredible! The school put so much effort into getting to know and understand him, and he has once again thrived. So for his key people I made them something a bit special as thankyou gifts:
The hubby is a submariner in the Royal Navy. He currently manages the submariner qualification department at HMS Drake in Plymouth. Once a year Babcock (a major contractor for the armed forces) holds a families day at the base, where virtually everything is free. It is a great treat for the kids, and as I said all free! The kids always have a magnificent time :)
The usual has also been happening this week.
I finally had to get rid of my gorgeous mermaid Jamberrys. I changed them for these green floral ones, and also changed my toes and put this really fun yellow nail polish on the rest of my toes. I discovered it almost perfectly matches the material I used to make my school house tunic haha.
I haven't been doing as much papercutting as usual - simply because we've been so busy. Here are the few I have done over the last week.
I also may have slipped and ordered a little bit of fabric...
The Holly Hobbie one is a vintage fabric off ebay. I had this fabric as curtains, and also a bedding set as a child. It was called Sarah Kay. Loving the memories, such a gorgeous fabric.
Some other pictures from the last week:
I mentioned on my other blog, that one of the hardest thing about being a Navy wife is the fact that people come and go all the time. Another friend moved to Canada in January. I received a lovely surprise gift from her this week. Made me smile lots :)
And that was the final week of this school year. Now for the summer holidays! Wish me luck haha. We'll be off camping in the not too distant future. Looking forward to that. Hope we all have a great week!
